Día del gato: Estos son los gatos más influyentes, en una población que se estima es de 600 millones

Hoy, es uno de los tres días que existen en el mundo para celebrar a los gatos: 20 de febrero, 8 de agosto y 29 de octubre. En el caso de la presente fecha se celebra por Socks, gato de la familia Clinton y que en periodo en el que fue Bill fue presidente, fue adoptado dicho animal, pero le detectado con cáncer y, aunque llevó un tratamiento, no mejoró. El 20 de febrero de 2009 murió y con ello se sumó como un día más para dicho fin.

De acuerdo con Ecology Global Network estimó que en el mundo existen cerca de 600 millones de mininos, cifra que contempla los domésticos, callejeros y los que se encuentran en refugios. Cabe señalar que sólo es una estimación porque es muy complejo saber cuántos gatos habitan el planeta tierra.

Según datos del portal World Atlas, es en Estados Unidos donde se encuentra la mayor población con 76 millones y medio, es decir, una octava parte de la población mundial se concentra en dicho territorio.

El que exista dicha cantidad de gatos es consecuencia de que uno de cada tres hogares tiene como mascota a un gato. Otro de los datos es que existe por hogar en promedio 2.2 felinos, ya que el 34% de los animales callejeros fueron adoptados.

9:41 AM PT -- Sources familiar with the surveillance video tell TMZ ... the video shows at least 4 masked men with hoodies making their way into the house just 10 minutes after people inside the house deadbolted the front doors shut. We're told they did not turn the house alarm on, which made it easier for the home invaders to get inside.

And, there's this ... Pop Smoke posted the address of the home earlier in the day. He was showing off gift bags he had received and one had the home's address. As for why he was getting gift bags ... his mix tape hit #7 on the Billboard 200 chart Tuesday.

8:03 AM PT -- Just hours before he was gunned down, Pop Smoke mugged with a pal in a car -- the friend holding a fortune in bills -- in the driveway of the home where he was shot.

Trump commutes Blagojevich's sentence and grants clemency to 10 others

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump wielded his powers of clemency Tuesday for convicted white-collar criminals and the former Illinois governor accused of attempting to sell a US senate seat.

The wave of pardons and commutations, some of which Trump has been considering for years, came amid a post-impeachment flurry of presidential prerogative, from ridding his team of aides he deemed disloyal to flagrantly inserting himself into Justice Department matters.

Trump announced midday he had commuted the prison sentence of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat who has served eight years of a 14-year sentence for the pay-for-play charges. Trump had been weighing the move since at least since 2018.

"He served eight years in jail, a long time. He seems like a very nice person, don't know him," Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews, suggesting the television appeals of Blagojevich's wife Patti helped cement his decision.

A spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed Tuesday night that Blagojevich was released from the Colorado federal prison where he was housed. Patti Blagojevich announced on her Twitter account that the family will hold a "homecoming press conference" at noon ET Wednesday at their residence.

CHICAGO — Rod R. Blagojevich, whose criminal sentence President Trump has commuted, became a household name when he was arrested 12 years ago on an explosive accusation: Prosecutors said he had tried to sell or trade to the highest bidder the Senate seat that Barack Obama was vacating to become the president.

Mr. Blagojevich’s expletive-filled remarks about his role in choosing a new senator — caught on government recordings of phone calls — became punch lines for late-night television.

“I’ve got this thing, and it’s golden,” he was memorably quoted as saying, using profanities. “And I’m just not giving it up for nothing. I’m not going to do it. And I can always use it. I can parachute me there.”

In the years he has since spent in federal prison in Colorado, Mr. Blagojevich’s name has faded some. (So has his trademark pouf of black hair.)
